Description: Universal Contracting served as the General Contractor for the GE Aerospace Powder Storage Room project. The project involved the construction of a new mechanical room and a fire-rated storage room designed for the safe housing of explosive materials. This work was completed as a new-build addition within an active GE Aerospace facility, requiring strict adherence to safety and operational protocols.
The project scope included:
- Selective demolition
- Concrete equipment pad installation
- Miscellaneous metals, including structural supports and framing
- Rough carpentry and joint sealants
- Doors, frames, and hardware
- Overhead door installation
- Gypsum wall and ceiling systems
- Electrostatic flooring
- Electrical systems including lighting, power, grounding, and access controls
- Mechanical, HVAC, and controls systems
- Fire suppression sprinkler system
- Fire alarm system
